Cookie Policy
This Policy explains how ChatResponder uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and Service.
Last updated: July 25, 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use related technologies such as local storage and signed session tokens. Some are essential to make the Service work; others help us understand usage or remember preferences.
2. How we use cookies
Strictly necessary. Required for authentication (via our auth provider), security, load balancing, CSRF protection, and completing flows such as Meta channel connection (short-lived httpOnly OAuth session cookies). The Service cannot function properly without these.
Functional. Remember UI preferences and keep signed-in sessions active across pages.
Widget sessions. The embeddable web chat may use a signed visitor token (stored by the host site / browser) so anonymous visitors can continue a conversation without creating an account.
Analytics / performance (if enabled). Help us understand aggregate traffic and diagnose errors. Where required by law, non-essential cookies are used only with consent.
3. Third-party cookies
Our authentication provider (Clerk) and hosting/infrastructure providers may set their own cookies when you use the Service. Channel providers (for example Meta during OAuth) may also set cookies on their domains during login. Those cookies are governed by the third party's policies.
4. Managing cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent sign-in and core features from working. You can also use browser controls to clear site data for ChatResponder.
5. Duration
Session cookies expire when you close your browser or after a short idle period. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. Meta OAuth helper cookies are short-lived (on the order of minutes). Auth sessions follow the retention configured by our authentication provider.
6. Changes and contact
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices change. The "Last updated" date will reflect revisions.
